We worked with Reebok’s Sports Licensing Division to help their Headwear and Accessories unit manage workflow and processes for marketing, design, sourcing, and manufacturing. The design and manufacturing of licensed head wear is complicated with an almost infinite number of color and design options for the cap, bill, piping, logo, etc., all of which must match exact brand specifications of the licensor.

Before

The act of simply creating the product catalog, when done manually, was very time consuming. As headwear styles and other design elements changed, new images and text had to be combined manually for every new catalog. The team produced one catalog per season.

After

Using FileMaker Pro, Adobe’s InDesign, 360Works’ SuperContainer and AppleScript, Silver Lake created a system to store product images and recall them automatically to the InDesign template using references within the database. The result was a 10X improvement in catalog production speed, as well as a drastic reduction of errors.

As a result, the Reebok team now produces ten catalogs per season. Because of this new efficiency, the team was able to pursue unique niche opportunities, substantially growing the business.

The database has since grown to manage teams, color testing, and workflow, tracking history and sourcing.
